DEIMOS: New European Earth Observation Satellite

The Spanish aerospace engineering company DEIMOS Space and the Remote Sensing Laboratory of the University of Valladolid (LATUV) have founded the new company DEIMOS Imaging for the design, implementation, operation, and commercial exploitation of a complete Earth Observation space system in Valladolid (Spain). All space missions are difficult. Docking a pair of spacecraft is tough but flying multiple satellites together in formation is the real cutting edge.
As Vega’s development is coming to an end with the qualification flight scheduled in 2011, two contracts were signed to allow the project to move on to the next phase.
