Critical Software S.A.

Critical Software participates in various EO related projects, mainly in the area of prevention and mitigation of forest fires. Critical currently takes advantage of Earth Observation data for the daily production of Forest Fire Risk Maps in Portugal. Critical is also involved in R&D projects with the aim to provide innovative EO products and services to specific user communities, especially for forest management and ocean monitoring.

Critical Software provides mission and business critical information systems solutions. Its customers are drawn from several markets including telecom, the public sector, industry, aerospace and defence. The company was founded in 1998 and today employs over 140 people. The headquarters facility is in Coimbra, Portugal, with subsidiaries in Lisbon, San Jose (California), and London.

Approximately 65% of the company??s turnover results from contracts outside Portugal. Annual growth has been on average sustained at 50% per year since Critical Software foundation. In 2004, the company turnover was about ?—4.5M.

Critical Software operates a ISO9001:2000 with Tick-IT accredited quality system and applies ISO 15504 recommendation (whose deployment was supported and monitored by the European Space Agency). The company offers true value for money, providing outstanding quality at competitive prices.
